Ophir

A charming gold town, named for the mythical gold-mine of the Biblical Queen of Sheba, lies in a peaceful, sheltered spot near the beautiful Manukerikia River and the famous stone suspension bridge named after Irish freedom fighter Daniel O’Connell. The Post Office is the cutest in the land and operational on limited hours. Ophir gardens are renowned and Pitches Store is the best local eatery. Also operating seasonally are second-hand shops of some charm. Ask Colleen at Pitches Store.
