Wildflowers

Spring and summer are the best seasons for enjoying the wide range of beautiful flowers which flourish in an otherwise harsh and uncompromising land characterized by low rainfall. The bright blue of borage and the viper’s bugloss, golden muhlein (Aaron’s Rod) and wild pink-flowered thyme are the predominant species. The aroma of thyme is especially beguiling. A rare plant is found only on the Dunstan Mountains, the myosotis albosericea, a native forget-me-not. It has a small yellow flower during the late spring and early summer.
